3Soft cooperates with the Silesian University of Technology

Since 2018, 3Soft has been cooperating with the Silesian University of Technology as part of the implementation of projects co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund.

The first joint activities focused on the project ‘Launching an innovative sales forecasting service for retailers in the software as a service model’. Scientific publications by Marek Sikora, Joanna Henzel and Marcin Blachnik are the outcome of regular meetings and information exchanges between 3Soft and the Silesian University of Technology. They mainly concern the estimation of promotion within the FMCG industry and have been presented at scientific conferences: Federated Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Soft Computing and Neural Information Processing.

Multiannual cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology is an opportunity for us to verify and exchange knowledge and experience in the broad field of Data Science. Through co-operation, we address non-trivial analytical issues in a multidimensional manner, seeking complex solutions within the framework of the hypotheses posed. The synergy with the Silesian University of Technology is also an opportunity to gain a broader perspective on the accompanying Data Science processes

We have been working with 3Soft for several years. For us, this collaboration is valuable for two reasons: we solve real and non-trivial analytical problems, which gives us the opportunity to make publications and develop professionally Secondly, the problems we solve provide the basis for doctoral theses, which further motivates the young team members to work hard

It is worth mentioning that 3Soft’s cooperation with the Silesian University of Technology continues during the implementation of the project ‘Decision support and knowledge management system for the retail industry (DSS-RETAIL)’ under the competition of the National Centre for Research and Development.

The result is another publication “Demand forecasting in the fashion business – an example of customised nearest neighbour and linear mixed model approaches” (by Joanna Henzel, Łukasz Wawrowski, Anna Kubina, Marek Sikora, Łukasz Wróbel), which was published in conjunction with this year’s Conference on Computer Science and Information Systems.
